The Basics Of Training A Guard Dog
Dogs are man’s best friend and a very good companion.
They do not only serve as a et but they can also be trained to do other
things such as being a guide dog for the blind or being a guard dog.
There are a lot of obedience schools that teaches dogs to be able to
perform job properly. All of them say one thing in common when it comes
to training a guard dog, that their training is very much different from
the other dogs.

It is important for you to understand the basics of
training a guard dog because this will better help you as a dog owner
when it comes to handling the guard dog when in training. It is
interesting to note that guard dogs can acquire varying level of skills.
Some dogs are taught to attack intruders while others are trained just
to give a warning if intruders are around. Basically, the dogs who are
trained to alert you when there is an intruder are sometimes not taught
on attacking strangers however they are trained to bark and approach you
if there is an intruder.
On the other hand, guard dogs that are trained to attack
intruders should be properly watched over especially if there is a
visitor in the house. Sometimes they may perceive some movements and
gestures to be threatening and may attack the visitor as that is how
they were trained to do. They are also trained to be desensitized from
loud noises so that they could properly protect their owner no matter
what the environment is.
You might miss your dog when you enroll them into guard
dog training because if they did qualify for training, they will be
living in an in-house facility. They are not allowed to go home until
the training is over. This is because they tend to be more relaxed when
they are at home and it may cause some damage on the training process.
You can also expect for the training to revisit basic obedience command
like sit and fetch. Some tests are also conducted such as temperament
test to see how long the dog’s reactions are.

During the training, the dog will also be taught not to
accept treats and snacks from strangers as they will be taught not to
get bribed by intruders. So it is important to take make sure that you
or your family member don’t break that rule while the dog is in
training. Naturally they will also be taught to recognize and identify
members of the family as well as other pets that you have in the house.
This is very important for the dog to have a harmonious relationship
with the living creatures around him. Once they felt threatened they
might attack.
If you want your dog to be a guard dog, then it is
important for you to look and enroll your dog with a professional dog
trainer. There are a lot of professional dog schools out there that
could teach your dog be the best guard dog.
